The first in a series of workshops within the EquiEdu 2 project, funded through the Interreg VI-A Hungary–Croatia Programme, was held at the Križevci University of Applied Sciences. The project is implemented by the Križevci University of Applied Sciences as the Lead Partner, in cooperation with its project partner, MATE University in Kaposvár.
The workshop brought together leading experts in the fields of horse breeding and equestrian sport from Koprivnica-Križevci County on the Croatian side and from MATE University on the Hungarian side. Through presentations and discussions, current challenges in equine reproduction were addressed, as well as the prerequisites for the successful organisation of major equestrian sporting events, such as show jumping tournaments.
Dr. Damir Alagić presented a draft textbook on equine reproduction, while Ana-Marija Kovač, DVM, discussed the prerequisites for the proper construction and equipment of equestrian arenas. Mr. Željko Gagro, MSc, addressed the challenges currently associated with the organisation of equestrian tournaments, with particular emphasis on spatial requirements, horse welfare and rider safety.
The workshop provided an opportunity for the exchange of professional knowledge and experience between Croatian and Hungarian experts and contributed to further cooperation and the joint development of educational content and guidelines aimed at improving the conditions for the development of equestrian sport and equestrian tourism in the cross-border region.
